Picton Cycles is rider-owned and rider-run, proudly based on Wavertree High Street since 1994. The business was founded by Arthur, now retired, who still rides three times a week in his 80s — proof that cycling really is for life.
In 2021, Ian and Ste took the reins, bringing decades of industry experience with them. Ian began his career in 1987, Ste in 1999, and between them they’ve built a lifetime of knowledge in the bike trade.
We don’t just sell bikes — we ride them. Our experience spans road, track, touring, XC mountain biking and BMX, with competitive racing in cyclocross, road, track and XC. That means our advice comes from real-world riding, not theory.

Our skilled, accredited mechanics continually train with the latest products and technologies to stay at the top of their game. Our servicing is renowned, and we stand by our work — when your bike leaves us, it will ride like new.
We service all types of bikes, including Bromptons, and offer custom wheel building, suspension servicing, and repairs of any size — from small adjustments to full rebuilds.
Visit our store to explore two floors packed with bikes from brands we trust, including Genesis, Kinesis, Marin, Claud Butler, MiRider, Tifosi, Dawes and Ridgeback. We also stock a range of quality second-hand bikes.
Alongside bikes, you’ll find a wide selection of accessories, clothing and shoes. We accept all Cyclescheme vouchers — including Halfords vouchers.
Since 2013, we’ve proudly sponsored a cyclocross racing team competing across the North West and beyond, supporting grassroots racing and the local cycling community.
